On 4 August 2026, Ararat-Armenia defeated NK Celje 2–1 in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium in Yerevan. The Slovenian side opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, when Svit Sešlar converted a penalty. Ararat-Armenia equalised in the 38th minute through Artur Serobyan, making the score 1–1 at half-time. The Armenian side completed the comeback in the 70th minute, when substitute Carlos França scored to put the hosts 2–1 ahead. Celje could not find another goal before the final whistle, leaving Ararat-Armenia with a one-goal advantage before the return fixture. The second leg was scheduled for 11 August in Celje.
