Noah Yerevan FC Noah is a unique club in Armenian football history, whose name references the biblical Noah and Mount Ararat – Armenia's national symbol. Founded in 2017 as FC Artsakh, the team adopted its current name and black-and-green colors following a 2019 rebrand, quickly becoming one of the most intriguing stories in modern football. The real breakthrough came in August 2023, when businessman Vardges Vardanyan, a technology entrepreneur and owner of Digitain, became the club's owner.
Noah developed dynamically from the outset. The team won its first trophy – the Armenian Cup – in 2020, defeating Ararat-Armenia in the final, and soon after captured the Supercup as well. The pinnacle of success came in the 2024/25 season, when the club won the Armenian championship for the first time in its history while also triumphing in the cup competition. In 2026, Noah defended their domestic cup and won the Supercup for the second time, cementing their position at the summit of Armenian football.
However, it was European adventures that brought Noah true fame. In 2024, the club made history as the first team to reach the Conference League league phase by progressing through all four qualifying rounds. On this journey, the black-and-greens sensationally eliminated Greek side AEK Athens, winning 3-1 at home in the third qualifying round return leg. This was one of the greatest victories in the history of Armenian clubs on the international stage. A year later, Noah again qualified for the Conference League league phase, becoming the first club from Armenia to achieve this feat in two consecutive seasons. In February 2026, Noah achieved another historic feat by defeating Dutch side AZ Alkmaar 1-0 at home in the first knockout round playoff match – it was the first triumph by an Armenian team at this stage of European competition, although Noah ultimately exited after losing 0-4 in the away leg.
Since the 2023/24 season, the club has played its home matches at Abovyan City Stadium, located in Abovyan, just outside Yerevan. The stadium is named after Vahagn Tumasyan and holds approximately 3,100 spectators. Noah is an excellent example of how modern management, thoughtful strategy and investment can elevate a young club to the top of the domestic scene and make it recognizable across Europe within just a few years.
