Rangers improved after the interval and created several opportunities to extend their lead, including a second-half effort that struck the post. Their task became more difficult in the 74th minute when Cammy Devlin was shown a straight red card for a reckless high challenge, leaving the Scottish side with ten men for the closing stages. Jablonec were unable to take advantage of the numerical superiority, however, and Rangers held on to secure a narrow victory. The result gives the Scottish side a one-goal advantage ahead of the return leg in the Czech Republic.
