Nestled at the foot of the Jizera Mountains, FK Jablonec has spent three decades establishing itself as one of the most consistent sides in Czech football, without ever relying on the financial muscle of the traditional Prague clubs. Founded in 1945 as ČSK Jablonec nad Nisou, the club had only a brief taste of top-flight football in the mid-1970s before being relegated in 1976. It returned to the Czech First League in 1994 after winning the second division, and has not left the top tier since – a run of more than thirty consecutive seasons that few Czech clubs outside the capital can match.

The club's best league finish, third place, came twice, in 1996/97 and again in 2020/21, and both campaigns opened the door to European football. Jablonec have won the Czech Cup on two occasions, in 1997/98 and 2012/13, and in 2013 added the Czech Supercup after beating Viktoria Plzeň at Prague's Eden Arena. Those achievements have made the club a regular, if unassuming, presence in UEFA qualifying rounds and group stages over the years.

Much of that stability is tied to manager Petr Rada, who led Jablonec through two separate spells, from 2003 to 2007 and again from 2017 to 2022, shaping the pragmatic, hard-working identity for which the club became known. On the pitch, the club's modern history is closely associated with striker David Lafata, twice the league's top scorer during his two spells at Jablonec and, with 198 league goals, the all-time leading scorer in Czech First League history, as well as with veteran midfielder Tomáš Hübschman and Montenegrin winger Vladimir Jovović, both key figures in the team's more recent seasons.

Home matches are played at the Stadion Střelnice, a compact ground with a capacity of just over 6,000, known among visiting sides for its brisk mountain climate. FK Jablonec's operating model has long relied on a pragmatic transfer strategy – building around experienced domestic players while giving loan opportunities to promising young talent seeking regular first-team football – an approach that has allowed a club from a town of under 50,000 people to remain a fixture of Czech football's top division.
