Penybont FC Penybont FC is a Welsh football club based in Bridgend, formed in 2013 through the merger of two local rivals, Bridgend Town FC and Bryntirion Athletic FC. The merger allowed for the modernisation of Bryntirion Park, where a new artificial pitch was laid, funded in part by the sale of Bridgend Town's former ground to supermarket chain ASDA.
The club spent its first six seasons in the second tier, before securing promotion to the Cymru Premier in the 2018–19 season with an unbeaten campaign of 25 wins and 5 draws from 30 matches. A key figure at the club remains Rhys Griffiths, who for years has combined the role of manager with that of a first-team player.
A historic moment in Penybont's history came in the 2022–23 season, when the club finished 3rd in the Cymru Premier, securing its first-ever appearance in European competition. In the summer of 2023, the team made its debut in UEFA Europa Conference League qualifying, drawn against Andorra's FC Santa Coloma. After a 1-1 home draw at Bridgend's Brewery Field, Penybont lost the away leg 0-2 after extra time, exiting the competition.
The team plays its home matches at Bryntirion Park, a ground also known under various changing sponsorship names. Midfielder Kane Owen has for years remained an important figure in the squad, one of the club's most experienced players.
