FC UNA Strassen is a club from the town of Strassen whose history dates back to the first decades of the 20th century. Founded in 1922 as Union Athlétique Strassen, it spent most of its history outside Luxembourg's top division. As recently as the 1990s, the club was playing in the fourth tier, with its rise beginning only in the 21st century. In 2011, Strassen reached the second tier for the first time, and two years later it earned promotion to the top flight.

The climb was gradual. After reaching the second tier, UNA Strassen finished third in 2013 and won the promotion play-off against UN Käerjéng 97, securing a 3–0 victory. Its first season in the top division ended with fifth place, and the club repeated that finish the following year. At the time, these were the best league positions in Strassen's history.

In the following years, UNA Strassen established itself in Luxembourg's top flight. The club has not won the national championship or the Luxembourg Cup, but regular participation in the BGL Ligue allowed it to increasingly challenge for places leading to European competition. The 2023/24 season brought a sixth-place finish, while the following campaign produced a historic breakthrough. Strassen finished second in the 2024/25 league, the highest position in the club's history.

The club made its European debut in 2024 in the UEFA Conference League qualifying rounds. Its first opponent was Finnish side KuPS Kuopio. The opening match in Luxembourg ended 0–0, but KuPS won the return leg 5–0 in Kuopio. Strassen therefore went out in the first qualifying round, although the campaign itself represented a historic milestone for the club.

A year later, Strassen progressed through a European qualifying tie for the first time. In the 2025/26 Conference League, the Luxembourg side eliminated Dunajská Streda before facing Dundee United in the second qualifying round. The Scottish club won both matches 1–0, ending Strassen's campaign at that stage. Reaching the second qualifying round nevertheless represented another European record for UNA Strassen.

The club's sporting development has gone hand in hand with improvements to its infrastructure. In 2025, the new Stade An de Millewisen was opened, replacing the former Complexe Sportif Jean Wirtz as the club's main home. The new stadium was inaugurated in November 2025 and became the home of the first team. The former Jean Wirtz complex remains an important part of the club's modern history, particularly from the period when Strassen established itself in the Luxembourg top flight.

The history of FC UNA Strassen is therefore defined less by major trophies than by a steady rise through the Luxembourg football pyramid. A club that was still playing fourth-tier football at the end of the 20th century reached the BGL Ligue, finished second nationally and established itself in UEFA competition during the 21st century. In 2026, Strassen is again competing in the Conference League and has reached the second qualifying round, where it faces Partizan Belgrade.

The club is traditionally associated with red-and-black colours, while its identity remains closely tied to Strassen, a town west of Luxembourg City. UNA's history is an example of a club that built its position without major domestic honours, instead progressing through sporting development, sustained top-flight participation and increasingly regular appearances in European qualifying rounds.
