The club, which was still playing in Luxembourg's third tier as recently as the 2023–24 season, earned back-to-back promotions within two years and, in its debut campaign in the National Division (Nationaldivisioun), the country's top flight, sensationally won the championship — the first title in its 80-year history. The Yellow and Blacks finished ahead of runners-up FC Differdange 03 on goal difference despite an identical points tally, and the triumph secured the club's historic debut in UEFA Champions League qualifying for the 2026–27 season.
The club's roots trace back to 1917, when it was founded as FC Jeunesse Bissen; it took its current name and form in 1946 following a series of earlier dissolutions and re-foundings, including spells as Red Star Bissen and FC 42 Bissen. For most of its history the club competed in the lower tiers of the Luxembourg league pyramid and had never previously played in the country's top division. It was only in the 2024–25 season that, finishing third in the Promotion d'Honneur, the second tier, the club secured promotion to the top flight after beating SC Bettembourg in a play-off. An important part of the club's history also includes its appearances in the Luxembourg Cup (Coupe de Luxembourg), where the team repeatedly faced opponents from the top division before eventually joining it.
The squad structure of FC Atert Bissen is built on a combination of local players and footballers recruited from nearby foreign markets, mainly France and Belgium. In the championship-winning season, key contributors to the attacking line included Mickael Jager and Ayoub El Hriti, with the club led by president Carlos Teixeira and manager Pedro Teixeira. The team plays its home matches at Terrain ZAC Klengbousbierg in Bissen, a ground with a capacity of around 1,500.
The club's historic entry into European competition began in the summer of 2026, when it faced Hungary's Győri ETO in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League — a debut that crowned a lightning-fast, three-year journey from the third division to the very summit of Luxembourgish club football.
