SP La Fiorita is one of the most successful clubs in the history of Sammarinese football, with its identity closely connected to Montegiardino, the smallest of San Marino's nine castelli. The modern club was founded on 7 April 1967 by a group of 18 people from Montegiardino. Among them was Romeo Casadei, who served as president for 26 years and became one of the most important figures in the club's history. The name La Fiorita itself has older roots, as a team using the name existed before the Second World War before being dissolved during the conflict and re-established in 1967.

During its first years after re-establishment, La Fiorita mainly took part in local tournaments and competitions. The creation of the official Campionato Sammarinese in 1985 provided a new framework for the club to compete for national honours. La Fiorita quickly became one of the leading sides in the new competition. In 1986 it won the Trofeo Federale, and in the 1986/87 season it achieved a historic treble by winning the Sammarinese championship, Coppa Titano and Trofeo Federale in the same campaign. It was the first such treble in the history of the Sammarinese championship. The club won its second league title in 1989/90 and then entered a long wait for another championship, which finally arrived in 2014.

The 21st century brought a second, much more sustained period of success. In 2012, La Fiorita won the Coppa Titano for the first time in 26 years and successfully defended the trophy the following year. The club then won the Sammarinese championship in 2013/14 and added further titles in 2016/17, 2017/18 and 2021/22. La Fiorita therefore has six Sammarinese league championships. Its eight Coppa Titano triumphs came in 1986, 2012, 2013, 2016, 2018, 2021, 2024 and 2026. The club has also won the Trofeo Federale three times and the Sammarinese Super Cup three times.

The period after 2012 is particularly important because it established La Fiorita as a regular participant in European competition. The club first entered UEFA competition in 2012 and has since continued to represent San Marino in European qualifying rounds. It has competed in qualifying for the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League. La Fiorita has not reached the main phase of any of these competitions, but its repeated European appearances have become an important part of both the club's history and the development of Sammarinese football.

One of the most distinctive moments in the club's European history came in 2015, when La Fiorita scored its first goal in UEFA competition. Damiano Tommasi, the former Italy international and AS Roma midfielder, scored against Vaduz in a Europa League qualifying match. Another notable episode came in the 2017/18 Champions League qualifying campaign against Linfield. La Fiorita drew the first leg 0–0 before losing the return match 1–0. The draw was the club's first in Champions League competition.

Another important figure of the successful modern era was Andy Selva, captain of the San Marino national team and its all-time leading scorer. He played a major role in La Fiorita's 2013/14 championship campaign, with his experience contributing to a side that competed consistently for domestic honours. The club is traditionally associated with yellow and blue, while its home ground is Campo da Calcio Igor Crescentini in Montegiardino.

The history of SP La Fiorita is therefore defined not only by its collection of trophies but also by its sustained presence in European qualifying rounds. A club from a small community in Montegiardino has established itself as one of the most successful teams in San Marino. After winning another Coppa Titano in 2026, La Fiorita secured another opportunity to represent the country in Europe, continuing a tradition that began in 2012.
