Virtus AcquavivaSS Virtus (Società Sportiva Virtus) is one of the most prominent and successful football clubs in San Marino, representing the municipality of Acquaviva. Founded in 1964, the club traces its footballing origins back to local sports initiatives in the 1920s. The team traditionally plays in distinctive green and black kit, earning them the popular nicknames Neroverdi and Virtussini.
For decades, the club remained a consistent presence in domestic competitions, but its true golden era arrived in the 2020s. SS Virtus transformed into a dominant force in Sammarinese football, claiming its first major silverware by winning the Coppa Titano in the 2022/2023 season after defeating Tre Penne in the final. This triumph was followed by an even greater achievement in the 2023/2024 season, when the club secured its first-ever Campionato Sammarinese league title. In total, the club boasts 1 league championship, 1 Coppa Titano, and 1 Supercoppa Sammarinese.
The team's local home is the Campo Sportivo di Acquaviva, a modern artificial-turf facility located in Acquaviva. Like all clubs in San Marino, competitive league and cup fixtures are shared across selected national venues, including the Stadio Olimpico di Serravalle.
Winning the national championship earned SS Virtus a historic debut on the European stage. The club made its initial appearance in the 2024/2025 UEFA Champions League first qualifying round against Romanian giants FCSB, before transferring to the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers to face Montenegrin side FK Mornar Bar. Key figures in the club's championship-winning squad under head coach Luigi Bizzotto included standout performers such as Ivan Buonocunto, Loris Tortori, and Elia Ciacci.
Today, SS Virtus remains a major title contender in San Marino, focused on maintaining its domestic success and building a lasting presence in UEFA club competitions.
