Vojvodina Novi Sad FK Vojvodina was born in 1914 under unusual circumstances for a football club — the Austro-Hungarian authorities banned large gatherings of Serbian youth in the Vojvodina region at the time, so a group of students from a Serbian Orthodox grammar school founded the club in secret, inside a weaving mill owned by the Šijakov family. The name itself, Vojvodina, was chosen to honour Serbian aspirations for autonomy within the Habsburg monarchy.
Known affectionately as "Voša", the club won two Yugoslav First League titles (1966, 1989) and lifted the Serbian Cup twice (2014, 2020). The most memorable European night came in 1998, in the UEFA Intertoto Cup semi-final — having lost 0–2 away to French side Bastia, Vojvodina crushed them 4–0 in the return leg in Novi Sad to reach the final. The club's academy produced Dušan Tadić, one of the finest Serbian footballers of his generation.
Home matches are played at Karađorđe Stadium, named after the leader of the Serbian uprising in the early 19th century.
