Wolfsberger AC Wolfsberger AC is an Austrian football club from the city of Wolfsberg in Carinthia, founded in 1931. For most of its history, spanning twenty seasons in the second tier of Austrian football, the club remained in the shadow of more decorated rivals from Vienna and Salzburg. Between 2007 and 2012, Wolfsberger operated as part of a joint venture with local club SK St. Andrä, competing together under the name WAC/St. Andrä.
A turning point in the club's history came in the 2011–12 season, when the team won the Austrian First League title, securing its historic debut in the Bundesliga — the club's first ever appearance in the top flight. Already in its inaugural top-flight season, Wolfsberger finished fifth, quickly establishing itself as a stable presence at the highest level of Austrian football. The team, playing in distinctive black and white, contests its home matches at the Lavanttal-Arena in Wolfsberg.
The 2018–19 season proved especially successful, as the club finished third in the Austrian Bundesliga, earning it a debut in the UEFA Europa League group stage the following season, 2019–20 — still the furthest the club has progressed in European competition. In subsequent years, Wolfsberger qualified regularly for continental competitions, also reaching the round of 32 of the Europa League in the 2020–21 season.
The truly historic moment in the club's history, however, came only on 1 May 2025, when Wolfsberger defeated TSV Hartberg 1–0 in the Austrian Cup final, claiming the first major trophy in its more than ninety-year history. This success, achieved after decades of building a stable position in Austrian football, now stands as the defining reference point in the history of Wolfsberger AC.
