Rosenborg BK Rosenborg BK's dominance owed as much to philosophy as to talent. Legendary coach Nils Arne Eggen built his teams around "godfoten" (the good foot), his famous mantra: "you become good by making others good." That simple but revolutionary approach to team play helped the Trondheim club, founded in 1917, dominate Norwegian football like no other side in the country's history — between 1992 and 2004 Rosenborg won 13 consecutive league titles, a record that still stands.
The most memorable night in the club's European history came in December 1996 at the San Siro, where Rosenborg beat reigning Champions League holders AC Milan 2–1 thanks to a 70th-minute winner from Vegard Heggem. The shock result knocked the Italian giants out of the competition and sent Rosenborg into the quarter-finals, the first Norwegian club ever to reach that stage.
Rosenborg still holds Norway's record with 26 league titles, and plays its home matches at Lerkendal Stadion in Trondheim, a ground the club has owned outright since buying it from the city in the early 2000s.
