DAC 1904 Dunajská Streda DAC 1904 Dunajská Streda is a phenomenon in European football — a club from a Slovak town that, until the end of World War II, bore the Hungarian name Dunaszerdahely and remains today the heartland of the Hungarian minority in southern Slovakia. The stands are dominated by Hungarian flags and chants, and supporters keep friendly ties with fans of Budapest's Ferencváros — it is this identity, more than results alone, that makes DAC one of the region's most recognisable clubs.
The club's greatest sporting triumph came in the 1986/87 season, when it won both the Slovak Cup and the overarching Czechoslovak Cup. A year later, in the 1988/89 UEFA Cup, a record crowd of 15,572 packed the stadium to watch a clash with reigning West German champions Bayern Munich — despite a 0–2 defeat, that night remains one of the most significant in the club's history.
The team, known as the Yellow-Blues, has finished as Slovak league runner-up on several occasions but is still chasing its first national title. Home matches are played at the DAC Aréna in Dunajská Streda, built on the site of the historic Mestský štadión from 1953.
