APO Levadiakos, founded on 20 July 1961 in Livadeia, represents central Greece and has spent decades moving between the country's top two divisions. Although the club lacks the trophy collection of Greece's traditional giants, it has earned the nickname "Emperor of Central Greece" (Αυτοκράτορας της Στερεάς Ελλάδας) among supporters, reflecting its status as the region's leading football team.

Levadiakos's road to the Greek elite was long and uneven. After years spent in the lower divisions, the club first reached the top flight in 1987, but did not secure a lasting presence in the Super League until nearly two decades later, in the 2005–06 season, having finished as runners-up in the second division. From that point, the team from Boeotia repeatedly moved between divisions, being relegated and promoted in subsequent years, before recording the longest uninterrupted top-flight run in its history, an eight-year spell from 2011 to 2019.

After relegation in 2019, the club again had to rebuild, returning to the Super League in 2022 after winning the second-division title, though maintaining top-flight status again proved difficult. Another return to the elite followed in the 2023–24 season, when Levadiakos once more won the second-division championship. Despite lacking major domestic honours, the team has regularly proved capable of challenging more established opponents, drawing strength from its home form.

Known for their blue-and-green colours, the green-and-blues play their home matches at the intimate Livadeia Municipal Stadium, built in 1952 and substantially modernised in 2005 using funds generated by the club's promotion to the top division. Holding just under 6,000 spectators, the venue has served as the club's home ground since its founding, forging a strong bond between the team and the local community of Livadeia and Boeotia.
