Flora Tallinn - The New Saints: head to head and statistics

The New Saints - Flora Tallinn, 30 Jul 2026

The second-leg clash of the UEFA Conference League second qualifying round between Welsh The New Saints FC and Estonian Flora Tallinn provided the fans gathered at Park Hall with a real thriller. After a 0–1 defeat in the first leg in Estonia, the Welsh champions faced the tough task of overturning the deficit. In front of their home crowd, they long struggled to break down the visitors’ solid defence. Just when it seemed Flora would hold on to their slender advantage until the final whistle, Ben Wilson became the hero for the hosts in the first minute of stoppage time. Following a precise pass from Jack Bodenham, he sent the ball into the net to make it 1–0 and level the tie on aggregate.

That late goal forced extra time, in which both teams played with extreme caution, fully aware of what was at stake. Despite several tactical changes and attempts to impose their own tempo, neither side managed to tip the balance in their favour during the additional 30 minutes. It was left to a nerve-wracking showdown to decide who would progress to the next round of European competition – a penalty shootout.

In the shootout, the players from Tallinn showed greater composure. TNS missed twice from the spot: the regulartime hero Ben Wilson had his effort saved by Flora’s goalkeeper, while young Josh Lock blasted his kick over the bar. Flora converted all four of their penalties and won the shootout 4–2, securing their place in the third qualifying round of the Conference League. For the Welsh side, there remained a huge sense of disappointment after such a tightly contested tie.
