Nõmme Kalju FC Nõmme Kalju FC traces its roots back to 1923, although the modern club was re-established in 1997. The team represents Nõmme, a green and distinctive district of Tallinn that has maintained a strong local identity over the years. That connection with the neighbourhood is one of the most important parts of Kalju's character.
The club reached its greatest domestic achievement in 2012, when Nõmme Kalju won the Estonian championship for the first time. The team is also instantly recognisable through its black-and-pink colours and the nickname Roosad Pantrid, meaning Pink Panthers. Kalju plays at the compact Hiiu Stadium, giving its home matches a very different atmosphere from the larger venues used by Tallinn's biggest clubs. The club has established itself as an important alternative to Estonia's traditional Flora–Levadia rivalry.
