Motor LublinMotor Lublin are a club whose story began not with a meeting of sports enthusiasts, but with the construction of a factory. In December 1950, a group of workers building the Truck Factory (FSC) in Lublin founded the Związkowe Koło Sportowe Stal Lublin, which was promoted from the lowest league tier after just its first season. It was not until 1957, when the FSC plant took full patronage of the team, that the club adopted the name Robotniczy Klub Sportowy Motor Lublin, by which it is still known today.
The best period in the club's post-war history came at the turn of the 1970s and 1980s. In 1980, under coach Bronisław Waligóra, Motor were promoted to the top flight for the first time in their history. The Lublin side held their place among the elite for two seasons, recording notable wins along the way, including a 5-1 victory over Stal Mielec and a 3-2 away win at Legia Warszawa. After relegation, the club represented Poland in the Intertoto Cup, facing sides from Denmark, Switzerland and West Germany, before winning promotion back to the top flight in 1989, where it remained until 1992.
More than three decades of waiting followed that spell, including a painful drop as far as the fourth tier in 2007. The club's rebuilding, backed by majority shareholder Zbigniew Jakubas, produced two consecutive promotions - first from the second tier, then from the first - and a historic return to the Ekstraklasa in the 2024/2025 season, after 32 years away. The yellow-white-and-blue side now plays at Arena Lublin, where several thousand fans celebrated the promotion in June 2024, greeting players returning with the trophy awarded by the Polish Football Association.
