Benfica cruised to a commanding 6–1 home victory over Hearts, taking a huge step towards securing a place in the next round of the UEFA Europa League qualifiers. The Portuguese side set a relentless pace from the opening whistle. Rafa Silva broke the deadlock in the 3rd minute, Tomás Araújo doubled the lead in the 23rd, and just before half-time Vangelis Pavlidis converted a penalty to make it 3–0.
Early in the second half, substitute Timothé Renaud pulled one back for the Scottish side with a consolation goal. However, Hearts had no answer to Benfica's relentless attacking play. Gianluca Prestianni added a fourth in the 59th minute, before the substitutes completed the rout in the closing stages. Jhon Durán found the net in the 87th minute, and deep into stoppage time Andreas Schjelderup calmly converted another penalty to seal an emphatic 6–1 victory.
