AS Monaco

AS Monaco FC is a football club founded in 1924 and based in the Principality of Monaco, competing regularly in France's Ligue 1 — even though Monaco itself does not formally lie within French territory. The club's distinctive diagonal red-and-white colours were designed in the 1960s by Princess Grace, and under manager Lucien Leduc the team went on to win its first French championship (1961) and, in 1963, its first-ever domestic double of league and cup.
