OGC Nice is one of the most decorated clubs in southern France. Founded in 1904, the club has won four French championships, with its most successful period coming particularly during the middle of the 20th century. Known as Les Aiglons (The Eaglets), the red-and-black side has long been an important part of the sporting landscape of the French Riviera. Nice plays at the modern Allianz Riviera, which replaced the historic Stade du Ray and has become one of the city's major sporting landmarks.
