FC Hegelmann is an example of a club that has risen from an amateur team of logistics company employees to one of the leading sides in Lithuanian football within little more than a decade. The club was founded in 2009, on the initiative of Hegelmann Transporte, which wanted to promote physical activity among its employees. Initially, the team competed in the lower divisions and for several years was based largely on local players.

The turning point came towards the end of the 2010s. In 2018, Hegelmann won the southern zone of the Lithuanian Second League, and a year later made its debut in the second tier. In the 2020 season, the club finished second in the First League and earned promotion to the top flight. Hegelmann's debut season in the A Lyga ended with a fifth-place finish.

The club gradually became an increasingly important force in domestic competition. Hegelmann reached the Lithuanian Cup final three times, in 2022, 2024 and 2025, but has yet to win any of those finals. The team also finished as Lithuanian league runners-up in 2024 and 2025. As a result, the Kaunas district club has established itself among the leading contenders in the A Lyga, although it is still waiting for its first national championship and first major trophy.

The club's sporting development also led to its European debut. FC Hegelmann first entered UEFA competition in the 2023 UEFA Conference League qualifying rounds. It returned to the competition in 2025 and 2026, although it has so far been unable to progress beyond the first qualifying round. European football nevertheless represents another stage in the development of a club that only a few years earlier was competing in the second tier of Lithuanian football.

Hegelmann plays its home matches at the stadium in Raudondvaris, in Kaunas District. The club is associated with blue and white colours and also runs youth and reserve structures. One of the key figures in its rapid rise was Andrius Skerla, who worked at the club from its A Lyga debut in 2021 until the end of the 2025 season. Under his leadership, Hegelmann finished league runners-up twice and reached the Lithuanian Cup final three times.
