Two goals from Mirko Ivanić and a late penalty by Aleksandar Katai gave Crvena zvezda a 3–0 home win over Viktoria Plzeň in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League playoff round. Ivanić opened the scoring in the 36th minute and doubled the Serbian side's advantage eight minutes after the break, with both goals assisted by Tomáš Elšnik. Crvena zvezda controlled much of the match at Stadion Rajko Mitić in Belgrade and limited the Czech visitors' attacking threat. Katai completed the scoring from the penalty spot in the 88th minute. The 3–0 victory gives Crvena zvezda a commanding advantage ahead of the second leg in Plzeň, while Viktoria face a difficult task if they are to overturn the deficit.
