Yelimay Semey A remarkable heritage and a swift rebirth after years of absence define the unique story of FC Yelimay. Football traditions in the city of Semey date back to the early 20th century, but the club under the name Yelimay was officially formed in 1994, built upon the foundations of the historic Spartak Semipalatinsk. The team immediately dominated the newly independent nation's top flight, capturing three Kazakh league titles in 1994, 1995, and 1998, as well as the Kazakh Cup in 1995.
On the continental stage, the club carved out a memorable run in the 1995/1996 Asian Cup Winners' Cup, reaching the quarter-finals after knocking out Kyrgyzstan's Kant-Oil and Uzbekistan's Navbahor Namangan. Following years of financial instability, renames, and the eventual dissolution of the historic entity, the iconic brand was formally revived in 2022 with strong support from the local region.
This new era delivered an immediate return to prominence. Guided by manager Andrei Karpovich, the regenerated side swept through the second tier undefeated in 2023 to secure promotion to the Premier Liga.
