Sivasspor Kulübü Sivasspor Kulübü is a Turkish sports club formed on 9 May 1967 through the merger of three local amateur teams — Sivas Gençlik, Yolspor and Kızılırmak. The merger came in response to requirements set by the Turkish Football Federation for clubs seeking admission to professional competition; the club's roots, however, date back to 1932, when Sivas Gençlik was founded in Sivas, already playing at that time in red and white, colours referencing the Turkish flag.
The team, nicknamed Yiğidolar (The Braves), spent its first decades shuttling between the lower tiers of Turkish football, before enjoying the most successful period in its history around the turn of the 2010s. In the 2007–08 season the club finished fourth in the Süper Lig, and a year later, in 2008–09, it secured the runners-up spot in Turkey — the club's highest-ever league finish, behind only Beşiktaş.
A historic moment came in the 2021–22 season, when Sivasspor won the Turkish Cup for the first time in its history — still its only major trophy to date. It is worth noting that a year earlier, in the 2020–21 season, the team recorded its best-ever European result, reaching the group stage of the UEFA Europa League. Sivasspor remains one of only three clubs in the history of the Turkish top flight, alongside Altay and Kocaelispor, that have never won the national championship, yet have nonetheless left a lasting mark on the landscape of Turkish football.
The team plays its home matches at the New 4 Eylül Stadium in Sivas, opened in 2016 to replace an older venue of the same name. The club also runs a women's football section, established in 2021 at the initiative of the Turkish Football Federation as part of its efforts to develop women's football in the country.
