After a 2-1 defeat in the first leg, Benfica fans had reason for concern, but the second leg put all doubts to rest. The Lisbon side crushed St. Gallen 5-0 (6-2 on aggregate), with Vangelis Pavlidis emerging as the hero of the night by scoring four goals.
The hosts took the lead in the 11th minute through Pavlidis, who finished off a pass from Rafa Silva. However, the real knockout came in the second half. In the 55th minute, Pavlidis doubled the lead following an assist from Jakub Kamiński, completed his hat-trick ten minutes later off a delivery by Alexander Bah, and calmly converted a penalty in the 74th minute.
Clément Lenglet sealed the 5-0 victory in the 82nd minute, finishing a pass from Dodi Lukebakio. Kamiński put in a strong performance, starting the match and recording a key assist before being substituted in the 75th minute.
