Dinamo BatumiFC Dinamo Batumi spent much of its history in the shadow of the more successful Dinamo Tbilisi, yet the club from the Black Sea coast traces its roots back just as far, having been founded in 1923 through the merger of two local teams, Mezgvauri (The Sailor) and Tsiteli Raindi (The Red Knight). For most of the 20th century and the early 21st, the club operated in the shadow of the Tbilisi giant, which won the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1981 — still the only European trophy claimed by a Georgian club.
The breakthrough for Dinamo Batumi came in 2021, when the club won the national championship for the first time, finishing above defending champions Dinamo Tbilisi. A second title, secured in 2023, confirmed that the achievement was not simply a brief success but the start of a new chapter in Georgian football, in which Batumi established itself as genuine competition for the capital's clubs. The club's honours also include the Georgian Cup from the 1997–98 season and two Georgian Super Cup triumphs, in 1998 and 2022.
Batumi is one of Georgia's most distinctive cities, known for its seaside setting and intense development in recent decades, and the football club has become an important part of its modern identity. Dinamo's home matches are played at the venue known as the Adjarabet Arena, with a capacity of 20,000 — one of the largest and most modern football facilities in the country, regularly attracting large crowds, with the atmosphere among the team's greatest strengths. Increasing appearances in European qualifying competitions, including the Champions League and Conference League, have also given the club from the Black Sea coast a growing profile beyond Georgia.
