FK Liepaja FK LiepÄja is one of the most prominent and ambitious football clubs in the Latvian VirslÄ«ga, continuing the rich sporting traditions of the coastal city of LiepÄja. The club was established in 2014 following the dissolution of the historic LiepÄjas Metalurgs. Legendary Latvian striker MÄris Verpakovskis assumed the role of the club's founding president, serving as the main driving force behind the new organization. Success came extraordinarily fast for the team. In 2015, during just its second season of existence, the club won the Latvian Higher League title under the guidance of manager Viktorsa Dobrecovsa.
