PSV Eindhoven PSV Eindhoven (Philips Sport Vereniging) is one of the traditional members of Dutch football's Big Three, alongside Ajax and Feyenoord. Founded on 31 August 1913 as a works team for employees of the Philips electronics company, the club still carries that industrial heritage in one of its lesser-known nicknames, Lampen ("Lightbulbs"), alongside the more common Boeren ("Farmers") and Rood-witten ("Red-and-whites").
PSV have grown into one of the dominant forces in the Eredivisie, winning the Dutch championship 27 times, most recently in the 2025–26 season, making them the country's second most successful club after Ajax. Much of that domestic identity was built by lifelong club legend Willy van der Kuijlen, who remains the Eredivisie's all-time top scorer with 311 league goals, almost all of them for PSV.
Europe brought the club's two greatest triumphs. In 1978, PSV won the UEFA Cup, beating French side Bastia 3-0 on aggregate for their first continental title. A decade later, in 1988, PSV completed a historic treble by winning the European Cup in Stuttgart, defeating Benfica on penalties after a goalless 120 minutes — still regarded as the single greatest achievement in the club's history.
PSV plays its home matches at the Philips Stadion in central Eindhoven, a ground whose name has remained unchanged since the club's earliest years, reflecting the enduring bond between the team and the company that gave it life.
