BK Häcken BK Häcken is a good example of how a club without the traditional pedigree of Sweden's biggest names can rise to the top. Founded in 1940 on the island of Hisingen in Gothenburg, Häcken spent much of its history outside the national elite. The turning point came in 2022, when the club won its first-ever Swedish championship, immediately opening the door to a debut in the 2023/24 UEFA Europa League group stage — the club's first-ever appearance in a UEFA group stage.
Häcken sealed their route to that debut with an emphatic qualifying result, thrashing Lithuania's Žalgiris Vilnius 8–1 on aggregate (winning the return leg 5–0). The yellow-and-blacks are now associated with attacking football and sharp scouting of young talent.
The club plays at a stadium built in 2015 on the site of the historic Rambergsvallen, which dated back to 1935 — a venue that competes under the neutral name Hisingen Arena in UEFA competitions, regardless of its current sponsor name.
