Egnatia Rrogozhinë KF Egnatia is one of the most remarkable examples of rapid growth in modern Albanian football. The club from Rrogozhinë actually has a fairly long history - it was founded on 15 September 1934 as 22 Shtatori Rrogozhinë, was renamed Vullneti Rrogozhinë in 1991, and has competed under its current name, KF Egnatia, since 1998. For most of that time, however, the team remained outside the national spotlight, playing largely in the lower divisions.
The real breakthrough came in recent years. In the 2022-23 season the green-and-whites won their first-ever Albanian Cup, beating Tirana 1-0 after extra time in the final, and retained the trophy a year later with a 1-0 win over Kukësi. An even bigger surprise followed in the 2023-24 Kategoria Superiore, when Egnatia beat Partizani Tirana in the deciding match to claim its first-ever Albanian league title. That success proved to be just the beginning: the club defended the title in 2024-25 by beating Vllaznia in the final, then won a third consecutive championship in 2025-26 with victory over Dinamo City.
Egnatia's rise is particularly striking given the small size of Rrogozhinë, a town of only a few thousand people neighbouring Kavajë, a city with a longer football tradition. Despite its modest fan base, the club has consistently competed with sides from Tirana and Albania's larger cities, and since 2024 has also taken part in European competition.
Home matches are played at Arena Egnatia, which has become a symbol of the club's rapidly growing ambitions. Egnatia's story - from a modest, ninety-year-old provincial club to one of the new forces of Albanian football - remains one of the most striking developments in regional football in recent years.
