When are the draws and matches for the UEFA club competition qualifiers?

The tournament schedule kicks off in mid-June. The draw for Round 1 is scheduled for June 16, 2026, with the two-legged ties taking place on July 7–9 and July 14–16. Just a day after the initial draw, on June 17, the matchups for Round 2 will be determined, with those fixtures set for July 21–23 and July 28–30.
Moving into August, the Round 3 draw will be held on July 20, followed by matches on August 4–6 and August 11–13. The final hurdle before the main tournament is the Play-offs: the pairings will be drawn on August 3, and the decisive matches are scheduled for August 18–20 and August 25–27. The entire qualifying process wraps up with the League Phase draw on August 28, 2026.
An important procedural rule to keep in mind: if a draw for the next round takes place before the return legs of the current round are completed, whole pairings are drawn rather than individual teams. In this scenario, the higher (better) coefficient of the pairing is assigned to the potential winner for seeding purposes, while the lower (worse) coefficient goes to the loser. This means that, theoretically, an underdog with a lower ranking can "inherit" the high coefficient of their stronger opponent for the upcoming round's draw.

The percentages are calculated based on the difference in team strength according to our own rating system. The model converts this difference into the probability of either team winning, while the probability of a draw depends on how evenly matched the teams are — the smaller the gap in strength, the higher the chance of a draw.
FAQ
The national coefficient ranking determines how many clubs from each country qualify for European competitions and at which stage they enter.
The club coefficient ranking reflects the strength of a specific team. It determines whether a club is seeded in draws and avoids strong opponents.
For both countries and clubs, results from the last 5 seasons of the UEFA coefficient are taken into account. After each year, the oldest season drops off and is replaced by the current one.
In the league phase and knockout stage the rules are simple:
- 2 points – for a win,
- 1 point – for a draw,
- 0 points – for a loss.
In qualification rounds, points are halved (1 point for a win, 0.5 points for a draw). These points contribute to the UEFA club coefficient.
For UEFA coefficient purposes, the result after 120 minutes (regular time + extra time) is counted. Penalty shootouts do not award additional match points – the team that advances after penalties receives points as for a draw.
All points earned by clubs from a given country are summed (including bonuses for progression), and the result is divided by the number of teams that participated in European competitions from that league. This forms the UEFA country coefficient.
Example: If a league is represented by 4 clubs and they earn 24 points in total, the country receives 6.000 coefficient points (24 / 4).
These are “bonuses” awarded by UEFA for high positions in the league phase and for advancing to further rounds (e.g. the round of 16).
The highest bonuses are available in the Champions League, smaller ones in the Europa League, and the lowest in the Conference League. They are included in both the club and country UEFA coefficient rankings.
The UEFA country coefficient ranking works with a one-year delay. The places earned by countries at the end of the 2025/2026 season will determine the number of teams in European competitions only in the 2027/2028 season. This gives clubs time to prepare for their new qualification spots.
No. The UEFA coefficient ranking takes into account only club matches (Champions League, Europa League and Conference League). National team matches (e.g. at the Euros or Nations League) have no impact on it.
