KF Malisheva belongs to the youngest generation of clubs to have risen to the top level of Kosovan football. The club from Malisheva was founded in 2016, initially operating as a football school. Growing interest among local youngsters led to the academy being transformed into a club competing in official competitions. Malisheva is now a member of the Kosovo Superleague, the country's highest division.

The rise to the elite was remarkably quick. During its first seasons, the team competed in the lower divisions before reaching Liga e Parë in the 2018/19 season. The next major breakthrough came in 2020/21, when Malisheva won the competition and secured the first promotion to the Superleague in its history. The club did not stop at simply establishing itself in the top flight. In 2023/24, Malisheva finished fourth, earning its first qualification for European competition.

The following season brought another important step forward. In 2024/25, Malisheva finished third in the Kosovo Superleague, the highest league position in the club's history. A total of 53 points secured another place in the UEFA Conference League qualifying rounds. In less than a decade, the club had therefore progressed from a local football school to a team regularly competing for European qualification.

The club's first European appearance came in the 2024/25 UEFA Conference League. In the first qualifying round, Malisheva faced Buducnost Podgorica. The Kosovan side won 1–0 at home, recording the first European victory in its history, but lost the return leg 3–0 and were eliminated. It nevertheless marked an important milestone, as Malisheva had entered European competition for the first time.

The club's European history soon gained an even more impressive result. In the 2026/27 Conference League qualifying campaign, Malisheva first eliminated Albania's Vllaznia Shkodër. After losing the first leg 2–1, the Kosovan team won the return match by an emphatic 5–0, progressing with a 6–2 aggregate score. It was one of the most significant victories in the club's short history.

In the second qualifying round, Malisheva were drawn against Scottish club Hibernian. The first match in Pristina ended in a 2–0 home victory, giving the Kosovan side a genuine opportunity to reach the next round. Hibernian, however, won the return leg in Edinburgh 4–1, overturning the tie and eliminating Malisheva 4–3 on aggregate. Despite the defeat, this became the longest European campaign in the club's history to that point.

Malisheva have not yet won the Kosovo championship or the national cup. The club's most important achievements remain the 2020/21 Liga e Parë title, which brought its historic promotion to the Superleague, and third place in the 2024/25 Superleague. Its rapid development has also been supported by a strong emphasis on youth development. According to the club's official information, Malisheva operates a football school involving around 200 young players across several age groups.

The club's traditional colours are blue and white. Malisheva plays its home matches at Liman Gegaj Stadium in Malisheva. For European fixtures, however, the club has also used stadiums in other cities in accordance with UEFA's organisational requirements.

The history of KF Malisheva is therefore primarily a story of rapid development. Founded only in 2016, the club reached the top division just five years later. A third-place finish in the Superleague, European debut and victories over Vllaznia Shkodër and Hibernian in Conference League qualifying demonstrate how quickly Malisheva has become part of the wider European football landscape.
